Keywords : Hyperbola and conic sections
Highlight
  • Defintion : it is the family of the conics
  • Formula : Y=F(x), R=G(A) and parametic equation

Q1. Deifintion
A1. Formula
  • 1. Rectangular form ((x-h)/a)^2 - ((y-k)/b)^2 = 1
  • 2. General form a*x^2+b*x*y+c*y*2+d*x+e*y+f = 0 and b^2-4*a*c >0
  • 3. Parametric form : x=h-a*cos(t) and y=k-b*sin(t)
  • 4. Polar form
    • R=D*e/(1+e*cos(t))
    • R=D*e/(1-e*cos(t))
    • R=D*e/(1+e*sin(t))
    • R=D*e/(1-e*sin(t))

Q2. Draw a tangent to an hyperbola ((X-h)/3)^2 - ((Y-k)/2)^2 = 1
A2. Costruction
  • (1) Draw the curve : f=SQR(a^2+b^2)
  • (2) Draw focus F and G
  • (3) Draw a point P (.e.g X=3) on curve. Join PF and PG
  • (4) Bisect angle FPG by PS
  • (5) Draw PT perpendicular to PS
  • (6) Example : *** Click here 39 20
      (a) Give h=1 k=1 a=3 b=2 & Enter (Note : 4 numbers separated by comma)
      (b) Give X vale 4 and Press Enter
